All are invited to attend the Opening Reception on Sept 12 from 6 – 9 P.M.
This solo exhibition of all new paintings captures the essence of seasons, both in nature and in life, in the context of fresh spring and glowing autumn colors reflected in Oakalla Lake near my home. With inspiration from Ecclesiastes 3: 1 "To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven," the impressionist paintings celebrate the beauty found in both the waxing and the waning, the budding and the harvesting. The joys of life are found in the building and the savoring; the sacrifice, and reaping the rewards. The lake is a continual source of spiritual and physical renewal and inspiration for me as I marvel at God’s creations and take refuge in its stillness.
Joining Lavinia at the Opening Reception will be author and DePauw alumna Mary Ardery. In addition to sharing selections of her poems on the wall placards, she will be presenting excerpts from her upcoming book of poetry, Level Watch.
